a path to excellence in IT
| Welcome to TickITplus - Accredited certification for IT | |
| This website is intended to provide all interested parties with information on the new, evolving TickITplus Scheme. Over the coming months it will be enhanced to provide both information and interactive facilities and eventually will replace the existing TickIT website. | |
| Key Features | |
| TickITplus will provide: | |
| ● Improved process modelling to facilitate more efficient business and quality systems planning and improvement | |
| ● Capability graded ISO 9001 Certificates, so that organisations and their customers have a quantifiable measure of the capabilities of the process covered by the certification scope | |
| ● The option of incorporating additional IT standards under one accredited certificate, such as ISO/IEC 20000 and ISO/IEC 27001 | |
| ● A defined process model covering the whole range of IT activities, not just software development. | |
| ● A revised qualification and training structure for both Assessors and Practitioners | |
| ● Formal improvements planning and assessment | |
| ● Revised and more modular downloadable documentation, including free materials | |
| ● Promotion of self assessments | |
| ● A new regulation structure for the scheme, assessors and training providers | |
| The principal feature of TickITplus however is the grades, which are based around the process capabilities described in ISO/IEC 15504-2: | |
| ● Foundation – this is the basic grade and normal transition level from TickIT. Processes have to be modelled but are not capability assessed. | |
| ● Bronze – equates to the Managed level 2 and ensures processes are operated with planned, monitored and adjusted management. | |
| ● Silver – equates to the Established level 3 and ensures that processes are capable of achieving their outcomes in terms of definition and deployment. | |
| ● Gold – equates to the Predictable level 4 and ensures that processes operate within predicted parameters. | |
| ● Platinum – equates to the Optimising level 5 and ensures that quantified measures and improvements are applied to key processes. | |
|
It is these maturity levels that define, under ISO 9001 certification, how well organisations are managing their IT processes. |
|
| Benefits | |
| ●Entry level access to capability grading for small IT organisations | |
| ●ISO 9001 Certification linked with capability grading gives access to stricter procurement processes | |
| ●Simple Transition Process for existing TickIT Certified organisations | |
| ●Cost savings for those organisation already pursuing both ISO 9001 and Capability Maturity Measurements | |
| The scheme is being launched over a two year period, which started in October 2009 – see the News page for details | |
| Downloads | |
| There are a number of specifications for the TickITplus scheme available in the downloads area. Interested parties are encouraged to read these documents These will be updated as the scheme develops | |
| Existing TickIT Registered Firms | |
| If you are an existing TickIT registered firm then you will need to convert to a TickITplus Foundation level certificate as part of a recertification. | |
| The process will be detailed in the scheme documentation. Details of the migration period for this will be made available later, but will be of the order of 2-3 years once initial accreditation is achieved. Of course if you have ambitions to demonstrate a higher capability level then you will want to discuss the matter further with your certification body. | |
| Existing TickIT Auditors | |
|
There will be a progression of 3 courses available to qualify TickITplus Assessors at the different grades: - Foundation Course – covering the Foundation level only - The Intermediate (or Capability) Course – covering Bronze and Silver levels - The Advanced (or High Maturity) Course – covering Gold and Platinum levels
Existing TickIT auditors will be able to convert to the TickITplus
scheme by taking the Foundation Course and examination.
The existing auditor registration scheme will be withdrawn once
the new scheme is operating successfully. A transition period will allow
existing auditors time to convert to the new scheme. |
|
| TickIT Practitioners | |
| There are Practitioner grades intended for those who do not intend to act as external assessors but who still want a recognised TickITplus qualification. This would apply to process developers, Quality Managers, internal assessors, consultants or engineers. Three grades are provided: Foundation Practitioner, Intermediate Practitioner and Advanced Practitioner, achieved by taking the same courses and examinations as assessors, but with different external qualifications needed. Internal staff, consultants etc therefore have a choice of TickITplus qualification: Auditor or Practitioner. Third party auditors need to follow the TickITplus Auditor route |
